Now, on this same mountain lived a special monkey with white fur who was called Shiro. He lived in the heart of the mountain, surrounded by a bamboo grove. Shiro was more than a hundred years old and had a thousand years’ worth of wisdom and magical power. Aka went to see Shiro because he thought that he would give him good advice. "King Shiro, could you please tell me how to make friends with the village people?"

"There are two ways to do it," replied Shiro. “One is using things, which is easier and faster. The other way is using your heart. It will take time, but is more certain to work. Which one would you like to choose?" "I want to be their friend as soon as possible. So, I'd like to choose the easier and faster one." "Then, I will give you a magical power to change stones into gold. But don’t use the power more than twice." "What would happen if I used it more than twice?" "It would bring a great disaster."
